INPATIENT CARDIOLOGY SERVICES
Patients admitted to SampsonRMC due to general cardiology issues are evaluated and monitored by a board-certified cardiologist, allowing patients to stay closer to home for evaluation and follow-up treatment. Our cardiologists will make recommendations and help direct your care including diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and management of heart disease and associated conditions.
The consulting cardiologist will:
- Provide an initial evaluation
- Order needed testing
- Monitor cardiac issues during your stay
- Organize transfer to a specialized cardiac care hospital, if necessary
- Arrange outpatient follow-up after discharge
Inpatient consultation is available for heart conditions related to:
- Acute myocardial infarction
- Cardiomyopathy
- Chest pain
- Congestive heart failure
- Coronary artery disease
- Endocarditis
- High blood pressure/high cholesterol
- Patients with rhythm abnormalities/arrhythmias
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Valve disease
CARDIOPULMONARY SERVICES
The Cardiopulmonary Services department provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to both hospitalized patients and outpatients.
With a physician’s order, we routinely perform:
- Pulmonary function studies
- Electrocardiograms (ECGs)
- Cardiac stress tests
- Echocardiograms
- Pacemaker evaluations
The Cardiopulmonary Services department is operated by licensed staff, who are also certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Our echocardiography lab is accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL).
Therapists and technicians are on duty 24 hours, 7 days a week to meet the needs of our patients.
OUTPATIENT CARDIOPULMONARY SERVICES
Outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic services are scheduled Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. To minimize waiting, we request that patients schedule an appointment by calling 910-592-2689. Cardiopulmonary Services is conveniently located in close proximity to the outpatient registration desk.
